CA$H FOR CANDY!
In years past, the day after halloween, we've hosted a community wide event called CA$H 4 CANDY. At this event we have paid children $1 for every pound of excess halloween candy they bring in. This year we have decided to get a local school and church involved and we will no longer be hosting the event at the office. Instead of paying the children we will be making a donation to their classroom for the class that donates the most candy. And for the church, a donation will be given to a dental mission clinic.
The candy we collect is then sent to our troops overseas as part of their Christmas care packages through Operation Gratitude (www.opgratitude.com). What a nice surprise this will be for our troops. (We will also be sending toothbrushes ;-)
We realize there is an increase in the amount of decay in our society that is 100% preventable. This decay can lead to pain and even life threatening infection. In today's economy many parents cannot afford to take their children to the dentist. Everyone knows that candy can cause decay, but we don't want to take the fun out of trick or treating. So we thought this would be a great way to:
1. Get excess candy out of our childrens hands
2. Allow these kids to be a part of supporting our troops
3. Giving them an opportunity to feel good about donating and raising money for thier classroom and missions.
